From the first call to moving in.
Five steps. Call or send an inquiry and tell us roughly what is going on; ten minutes is usually enough for both of us to know whether it is worth going further. Visit the home, meet whoever is here, and ask the things a photograph cannot answer. Washington decides the level of care through a DSHS assessment, and for anyone using Medicaid it also decides what the state pays — separately, we assess honestly whether this home can meet the need, and will say plainly if it cannot. Before anyone moves in, Washington requires a written admission agreement, the home’s Disclosure of Services, its Medicaid policy and a notice of resident rights; you should read all four and be given time to. Then moving in, and staying in touch afterwards as needs are reviewed. How long it takes depends on the assessment, on Medicaid, and on whether a room is free.
